I inadvertantly downloaded “Blekko” aka “My start” which has attached itself to the IE browser start tab. It seems to be a Java script app. I don’t want it on my computer but can’t find a way to get rid of it. I’m running Windows 7.
and welcome to JustAnswer.com
I will do my best to help with your question
Do you have Internet Explorer 9?
Yes, I think so it’s a new dell desk top.
Ok. Please do this:
In Internet Explorer click on screw icon in top-right corner of it and then open Internet Options
open Programs tab
there click on Manage Add-ons
in the window that will open find My Start, select it and click on “Disable” button
I don’t see a screw icon. I see a gear icon that says tools.
ok. click on Tools -> Internet Options
then Programs tab and click Manage Add-ons
in new Window that will open search for My Start in the list (or Blekko) select it and click on Disable button
Found Blekko, says Enabled, don’t see a Disable button. There is a remove button near bottom of window
Ok. Even better
click on Remove button
It seemed to work. But I won’t really know until I close and restart IE.
Ok. Please restart IE, then open this page from your email address. Or you can also add this page to Favorites
and open it from there
Didn’t work. Tab is still there.
Ok. You mean on toolbar?
IE browser tab
Ok. Please do this
open again Internet Options
in General tab, under Home page
in text box find MyStart.com and delete it
then click OK
and restart Internet Explorer and let me know
Completed that task. Again, it didn’t work — it’s still there.
Ok. Please do this
Open Internet Options and then Advanced tab
there click on Reset button, then click on Reset again
this should work
Also try to remove everything from General Tab -> Home Page text box
